Taken together, Chicago golf courses don’t quite give the city the golf-destination clout of meccas such as Scottsdale or the Monterey Peninsula—to be honest, the city is better known for its deep-dish pizza than its deep rough. Get out from the shadow of the Willis Tower, though, and plenty of opportunities to hit the links present themselves. Chicago Park District golf encompasses seven different public courses and one driving range, including two 9-hole courses situated right on the famous lakefront. Outside the city proper, golf courses near Chicago represent the entire spectrum, from highly rated public courses such as Harborside and Cog Hill to renowned private courses such as Medinah Country Club, Chicago Golf Club, and Butler National.
